With over 30 years of clinical practice, he has performed thousands of orthopedic surgeries and evaluated countless numbers of injured workers in California. Dr. Brourman and his staff are dedicated to the well-being of each and every patient, treating them with empathy, dignity, and respect.
Chad has been instrumental in shaping SME from the very beginning. Before joining SME, Chad spent 9 years in real estate commercial banking and 11 years with a privately-held real estate investment company. Chad is known for his relationship-oriented approach and team-building skills, always aiming to develop long-term relationships to meet their business and professional needs. Chad's extensive experience and forward thinking continue to drive SME's success, ensuring we deliver the best services to our clients.
Todd brings over 20 years of experience as a Chiropractor, during which he successfully ran his own practice and served as a QME, AME, and worked on countless SIBTF cases. For the past 15 years, Todd has held high-level executive positions in various Med-Legal groups. His background as a physician gives him a unique perspective at the management level, allowing him to share invaluable knowledge and provide expert training. We are extremely fortunate to have him leading our team and guiding our doctors.
Since 1995, Claudia has been an integral part of our team, originally working alongside Dr. Brourman in his medical practice. As Dr. Brourman transitioned to Med-Legal work and founded Sharp Medical Evaluators, Claudia continued to play a pivotal role, overseeing the intricate details of our processes. Her commitment to excellence and understanding of our work make her an invaluable asset to our team. We are incredibly grateful to have Claudia guiding our operations.
Alexis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and has developed a strong foundation in the med-legal space through her work with Sharp Medical Evaluators. She plays a key role in driving physician recruitment, expanding strategic partnerships, and supporting the continued growth of the organization across QME, IME, AME, and SIBTF services.
With a background in healthcare staffing, insurance, and marketing, Alexis brings a well-rounded, relationship-driven approach to her work. She is closely involved in onboarding and supporting physicians, collaborating with legal partners, and identifying new opportunities to strengthen SME’s statewide presence.

Nick Caruso serves as Vice President of IME Services at Sharp Medical Evaluators, where he leads the growth and development of the company’s Independent Medical Examination (IME) division. He focuses on building strong relationships with defense firms, insurance carriers, and industry partners while ensuring an efficient and streamlined process from referral through report delivery.
Prior to joining SME, Nick worked as an Account Executive at Litigation Legal Insight Experts, partnering with legal teams to connect them with expert resources for complex litigation matters. He previously held roles at Bitly and Yelp, where he developed a strong foundation in business development and client engagement.
Nick brings a strategic, client-focused approach to expanding SME’s IME services while maintaining the high level of quality and responsiveness the organization is known for.
