Description
Dr. Brandon G. Lucas is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and newly certified Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) in the State of California. He brings extensive clinical and surgical experience in musculoskeletal injury evaluation, with advanced training in orthopedic sports medicine and complex orthopedic conditions.
Dr. Lucas completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Mount Carmel Health System, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at Ochsner Health System in New Orleans. He earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, graduating in the top 10% of his class and receiving induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
In clinical practice, Dr. Lucas has evaluated and treated a wide range of orthopedic conditions involving the shoulder, knee, hip, and extremities, including traumatic injuries and degenerative pathology. He currently serves as an Attending Physician and Chief Medical Officer at the Los Angeles Bone & Joint Institute and has previously practiced as a locum tenens orthopedic surgeon across multiple hospital systems nationwide, gaining broad exposure to diverse patient populations and injury presentations.
Dr. Lucas’s background includes academic research, peer-reviewed publications, and formal presentations on orthopedic injury assessment, surgical decision-making, and evidence-based treatment standards. His approach to QME evaluations is grounded in thorough record review, objective clinical assessment, and clear, well-supported medical opinions designed to assist the parties in understanding injury causation, treatment appropriateness, and impairment considerations.
