Gregory Loren, MD

Dr. Gregory James Loren is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with over 25 years of expertise in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and advanced orthopaedic care. As the founder partner at CORE Orthopaedic Medical Center in Encinitas, California, he provides exceptional patient care and serves as a consultant for Coastal Medical Group.

Dr. Loren completed his medical degree with honors at UCLA and his orthopaedic residency at UC San Diego, where he served as Chief Resident. He later completed a prestigious fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Loren is a dedicated educator, serving as a Clinical Instructor at UC San Diego’s Department of Orthopaedics since 1999. He has also held leadership roles, including Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital, and has served as team physician for several academic and athletic organizations.

An innovator in orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Loren has developed surgical tools, authored numerous scientific publications, and contributed to clinical research in collaboration with leading orthopaedic companies. He has earned accolades such as San Diego Magazine’s “Top Physician” and the San Diego County Medical Society’s “Top Doctor” award.
