Description
Dr. Jayson Lian is an orthopedic surgeon and newly certified Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) in the State of California, with advanced fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine. He brings a strong academic and clinical foundation to medical-legal evaluations, with extensive experience assessing complex musculoskeletal injuries involving the shoulder, knee, hip, and lower extremities.
Dr. Lian completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, where he served as Education Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles. He earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, graduating with distinction in clinical research, and holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from New York University.
His clinical background includes evaluation and treatment of both acute and chronic orthopedic injuries, sports-related trauma, and degenerative conditions. In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Lian has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has presented extensively at national and international orthopedic conferences. His research experience reflects a deep understanding of evidence-based medicine, injury causation, biomechanics, and long-term functional outcomes.
Dr. Lian is actively involved in professional athletics and currently serves in team physician roles with multiple collegiate and professional sports organizations. His approach to QME evaluations emphasizes thorough record review, objective clinical examination, and clear, well-supported medical opinions designed to assist the parties in understanding injury mechanisms, treatment considerations, and impairment-related issues.
Dr. Lian is licensed to practice medicine in California and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is fluent in Spanish and brings a detailed, analytical approach to medical-legal evaluations.
