
Dr. Babak Kamkar is a highly experienced California-licensed optometrist and QME with over three decades of professional practice. Since 1986, Dr. Kamkar has provided exceptional eye care and has conducted over 300 medical-legal evaluations as an expert witness in visual impairment cases. He is the inventor of the APD Tester™, a patented ophthalmic diagnostic tool, and serves as a consultant for various firms specializing in worker’s compensation disability and Fit for Duty evaluations. Dr. Kamkar is the President of Modern Optometry in Glendale, CA, and also serves as a neuro-optometry consultant at the National Brain Injury Institute. An accomplished national lecturer, he has shared his expertise on visual impairment ratings and ocular history taking at numerous professional conferences. Dr. Kamkar holds a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry and has received several scholarly awards, including the Harold C. Kohn Memorial Research Award. Dedicated to community service, Dr. Kamkar has been involved in various volunteer activities, including serving as a volunteer optometrist with Flying Samaritans and organizing cultural and recreational events within the Iranian American community. His commitment to advancing the field of optometry and his extensive involvement in both professional and community spheres highlight his passion for patient care and education.
